A distributor of cosmetics and beauty products was getting complaints from customers who were unhappy that their organic, environmentally friendly products were reaching them surrounded by bubble wrap and plastic air-pillows. The protection was necessary, but wasn’t working for a brand with a green philosophy.

The Problem

The company knew they couldn’t go on distributing organic cosmetics in non-environmentally friendly packaging – unhappy customers expected more sustainable and recyclable packaging than the plastic void fill they were currently using. The company had already tried using biodegradable loose fill instead, but had found it too messy.

They knew that they really needed to find an efficient, eco-friendly void-fill solution. With their range of high-end products, protection from damage was an equal priority.

Our Solution

Our consultants assessed the company’s needs and suggested an environmentally friendly paper void fill solution. The company trialled two of our Nuevopak™ X-Fill™ machines, which produce protective void fill made from 100% recycled paper. The paper void fill easily moulds around products to cushion them and customers can recycle it easily after use.

The X-Fill™ is one of the fastest machines on the market – operators just press the foot pedal to produce 1.7m of void fill a second. X-Fill™ flexible machines can stand alone or fasten to a tabletop and the company chose to trial tabletop versions. Our technicians fixed the machines to their packing stations and demonstrated their use to warehouse operatives.
