SHOULD WE STILL BE CELEBRATING BUBBLE WRAP APPRECIATION DAY?
Bubble wrap might be fun to pop but it’s not the eco-friendliest void fill solution. This Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day we’re celebrating these sustainable alternatives instead.
The last Monday in January is National Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day.
Since its invention in the 1950s, air-filled plastic bubble wrap has been appreciated not only for its ability to protect fragile goods from damage in transit but also because it’s fun to pop.
We don’t want to be party poopers and spoil the day of celebration, but as loved as bubble wrap is, it’s not the most eco-friendly way to cushion products in transit. It uses a lot of plastic and is typically thrown away after a single use.
So, this Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day, we wanted to celebrate these sustainable alternatives to bubble wrap instead:
CARDBOARD VOID FILL CONVERTERS
HSM Profipak machines allow you to convert your waste cardboard into padding that can be wrapped around fragile items, like glassware, to protect them.
As well as reducing your recycling costs, converting your cardboard waste will increase space in your production area and save you the money you would usually spend on bubble wrap
LOCKED AIRTM AIR PILLOWS AND CUSHIONS
Locked Air™ void fill machines produce air pillows to fill gaps in boxes, or air cushions that can be wrapped around goods to prevent scratches and crushing.
Made using extra-strong HDPE films, the air pillows and cushions are 100% recyclable.
You can even choose a degradable pillow film or an ultra-thin film made of 35% less plastic than standard air pillow systems.
NUEVOPAKTM PAPER VOID FILL
NuevopakTM systems allow you to part with plastic void fill completely, producing padding made from biodegradable, recycled paper.
As well as helping you do your bit for the environment, producing Nuevopak TM void fill is much quicker than using bubble wrap, reducing your labour costs and downtime.
The X-Fill™ machine can shoot void fill straight into a box in just 3 seconds, whereas it takes over a minute to pull bubble wrap from a roll, form it into a bundle and pack it into a box.
CORRUGATED PAPER ROLLS
Made from 100% recycled paper, corrugated paper is a low-cost alternative to wrapping bubble wrap around your products.
The high-density flute cushions goods from impact and makes sure your products arrive in one piece.
By using corrugated paper instead of bubble wrap, your customers can immediately see that you care about your environmental responsibilities.
